Reflections and encouragement for those in the world, but not of it.

Who Can Stand Against Goliath?

In John 16:33, Jesus promises us victory over the world: “In the world, you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” 2000 years later, Christ’s victory still stands.

However, when we look at the suffering and evil in the world around us, we sometimes find Christ’s encouragement hard to believe. At the end of May, I found myself asking God this question: “Who can stand against this culture we’ve created?” He answered with another question: “Who can stand against Goliath?” The answer: David. It wasn’t the mighty Saul or the wise Samuel who killed Goliath, but the young shepherd armed with a couple rocks and a lot of faith in God.

My prayer for this blog is twofold: First, that God will reveal to us the truth, beauty, and goodness of the world He created. Second, that God will equip us with the tools we need to stand against Goliath in the world.

I’ll be praying for you. Please pray for me, and rejoice! This battle belongs to God, and He’s already won!

In God’s name! Let us go on bravely!
